A man had been arrested for the murder of Martin Daly.
Another man had been charged with the murder of Elizabeth Sutherland.
A suspect was arrested for jobs fraud.
A man phoned in claiming to have the Madonna statue stolen from Tewkesbury Abbey. Crimewatch appealed for the man to call back in again.
Kassam Family Fire Tragedy
Investigating Officer: Don Gibson, Essex Police
A possibly racially motivated attack, Mrs Shamira Kassam and her three children died in an arson attack at their home in Ilford on 15th July. Mrs Kassam was eight months pregnant.
Petrol had been poured inside the property. An orange toyota had been seen speeding away from the house at the time of the fire. Four (or five men) pulled up in a Vauxhall Cavalier and made no effort to help but stood watching the blaze. One of the men was later seen at the front of the house holding a brick.
There had been another arson attack on the property just a month prior.
Status: Unsolved
An inquest ruled it as an unlawful killing but could not establish it being racially motivated and nobody has been charged.

Abbey National Shotgun RobberInvestigating Officer: John Bassett, Metropolitan Police
A smartly dressed man with a shotgun who has been robbing building societies in London, Surrey and Essex.
His M.O was to slash the victims tyre and then pose as a helpful passer by. He would then lead them back inside and make them open the safe. In one raid he took his victim on a bus.
He had not used his shotgun in a raid to date but police fear he is becoming increasingly violent in his raids. Abbey National offered a £10,000 reward.

Last found update showed robber was now operating in Leicester area.

Incident Desk
Cyril Martin
63-year-old homeless man Cyril Martin from Maidenhead had been beaten and left in a coma in August.
He had been drinking at the Bell pub the evening before. He was found in an outhouse he'd been sleeping rough in.
Status: Unsolved
Cyril would die from his wounds. Three men were questioned but the murder remains unsolved.

Crosby Rapist
A rapist attacked a female jogger on 21st August in Crosby. The attacked fled the scene when another jogger came past.

Widnes Armaguard Robbery
Outside Widnes shopping Centre in July, two men (one pretending to be a wheelchair user) held up an Armaguard security guard making a collection. However when they tried to make their escape, an orange gas canister inside the money box activated spraying them in red dye. They ran away on foot.
Hove Building Society Robber
A man stole £1000 from Alliance Building Society in Hove on 29th July.

Car Radio Thefts
£350,000 worth of car radios had been stolen from Vauxhall compounds across the South East.

Imran Vohra Murder
Investigating Officer: John Boyd, Lancashire Constabulary
9-year-old Imran Vohra was sexually assaulted and murdered when coming home from school in Avenham on 11th July 1985.
He was last seen walking through a local park at 4.30pm that afternoon. A large search party was formed amongst the local Muslim community to try and find him.
He was found near the tram line on 13th July.
Status: Solved
In 2009, the Police were able to use DNA evidence that matched the murder with Robert Morley. Morley was living in Preston at the time of Imran's murder but later relocated to Essex. He died of lung cancer in 1997.
Aladdin's Cave
In this months collection of stolen goods, of interest to John Bly are: a Victorian style child's chair; some musical gongs; a George III cabinet; a porcelain mug and saucer; a 19th century chest; an Edwardian bridge table; a miniature chest of drawers; some gold lockets; a pocketwatch; some stuffed ducks; and a decoy duck.
Roy Page Murder
61-year-old shopkeeper Roy Page from Bristol was murdered in his shop on 18th July.
A man had been paroling the area pretending to be from the gas board.
Mr Page's body was found later that evening, all the gas appliances in the property had been turned on.
Police believe it was a theft gone wrong.
Status: Solved
Clive Richards was given a life sentence for Roy Page's murder in May 1986.
This is the first solved murder case directly attributed directly to Crimewatch. Six viewers had seen a man matching the actor in the reconstruction and had seen him posing as a gas engineer six days after the programmes broadcast.
